The "Ni-style Ballast Water Management System" is a newly developed system independently developed by our company to meet the requirements of regulation D-2. This system first uses a 50um self-cleaning filter to remove large particles; then, a microfiltration membrane removes all microorganisms, even bacteria; at the same time, an "online" gas-water mixer injects inert gas - nitrogen, which continues to pressurize with nitrogen inside the ballast water tank after entering. Another major advantage of the "Ni-style Ballast Water Management System" is that it greatly reduces the corrosion of the ballast water tank walls, with almost no sediment inside the tank, saving shipowners the costs required for tank cleaning and wall anticorrosion. The NiBallasBWMS Ni-style ballast water management system uses membrane separation technology to treat ship ballast water without adding any chemicals, and has passed land-based tests under the supervision of CCS. Advantages: Self-cleaning filter does not require filter element replacement; membrane separation removes all microorganisms; no chemicals need to be carried on board, avoiding secondary pollution; energy-saving and small footprint; prevents corrosion of ballast water tank walls. Self-cleaning filter: Seawater is sucked in from the sea valve and coarse filter by the ballast water pump, and first enters the 50um stainless steel self-cleaning filter to remove most of the particles and microorganisms in the water, and the waste liquid containing concentrated microorganisms is discharged into the local port. After the pressure difference increases or the set time is reached, the suction mechanism will automatically rotate to successively suck out the attachments in each filter element. Microfiltration membrane separator: Membrane technology has made considerable progress in recent decades, and the application of membrane technology has become a standard for whether water treatment technology is advanced. Membranes can not only intercept plankton of 10μm-50μm, but also remove bacteria. The backwashing mechanism will periodically backwash the membrane to extend the service life of the membrane. Features of the Ni-style ballast water management system: 1. Except for nitrogen, this system does not add any substances and has no impact on the environment. 2. This system adopts a modular design and is suitable for various new and old vessels. 3. The backwash water of the filter unit and membrane separation unit of this system comes from its own filtered water and does not require any external water source. 4. This system is energy-saving and power-saving, with low operating costs. 5. The backwash concentrate of the filter unit and membrane separation unit of this system is immediately discharged into the waters of the departure port, and there is very little sediment entering the ballast tank, which can reduce a large amount of tank cleaning work. 6. This system uses PSA technology to prepare pure nitrogen and add it to the ballast water tank, which will not change the water quality of the seawater and will not produce any secondary substances that affect the environment, crew, and public. 7. The nitrogen in this system has an excellent anticorrosion effect on the ballast tank walls, reducing hull corrosion. 8. This system is easy to operate and has low maintenance costs.
1 OverviewThe Ni ballast water management system mainly includes a filter unit, a membrane separation unit, a nitrogen generation device, and a control unit. It uses a filtration + membrane separation + nitrogen deoxygenation process to treat ballast water. During ballasting, the filter unit removes biological and solid particles larger than 50 microns from the ballast water, and performs automatic backwashing under pressure difference or time control. The backwash water is discharged directly overboard; the membrane separation unit uses microfiltration membranes to remove solid particles and organisms, and performs automatic backwashing under pressure difference or time control. The backwash water is discharged directly overboard; nitrogen flows into the ballast tank after the membrane separation unit and is injected into the ballast water; during unloading, it is directly discharged overboard by the ballast pump. The discharge water quality meets IMO D-2 and USCG 46 CFR 162.060 standards.
