Øyvind Pettersen, Global Vice President and General Manager of DNV GL China Technical Center; Liu Yaoyong, Jiangyin Regional Manager of DNV GL; Chen Jianxin, Business Manager of DNV GL Greater China Marine Product Certification Department; Yao Dan, Senior Senior Business Consultant of DNV GL; Professor Wu Huixian of Shanghai Ocean University; and Yang Yong, Director of the Environmental Laboratory of CSSC 704 Institute, along with other leaders and experts attended the event. Ni Jianfeng, General Manager of Antarctic Machinery; Ni Jilin, Deputy General Manager; Jin Xing, Senior Engineer of the R&D team; Zhang Dinghai, Senior Technical Consultant; and Zhang Yinhai, Director of the Quality Control Center, also participated. The event celebrated the successful acquisition of the USCG Type Approval Certificate for the Ni's Ballast Water Management System, independently developed by Antarctic Machinery and employing a globally adopted process of mechanical filtration + membrane separation + nitrogen-driven oxygen removal, in cooperation with DNV GL.

Øyvind Pettersen, Global Vice President and General Manager of DNV GL China Technical Center, offered his congratulations in a welcome speech on the successful acquisition of the USCG Type Approval Certificate for the Ni's Ballast Water Management System, independently developed by Antarctic Machinery and with complete independent intellectual property rights. He noted that the treatment process used in the Ni's Ballast Water Management System is a global example of using this technology to successfully apply for and obtain USCG certification, fully demonstrating the strong R&D capabilities of Antarctic Machinery.

In his speech, General Manager Ni Jianfeng expressed gratitude to DNV GL for its support and hard work in helping Jiangsu Antarctic Machinery Co., Ltd. obtain the USCG Type Approval Certificate, and thanked Shanghai Ocean University, CSSC 704 Institute, and other units for their continued concern and significant contributions during various tests. He also stated that the acquisition of the USCG Type Approval Certificate for the Ni's Ballast Water Management System (NiBallastTMBWMS) is a milestone in the history of Antarctic Machinery's development. The company will use the acquisition of the USCG Type Approval Certificate for the Ni's Ballast Water Management System (NiBallastTM BWMS) as an opportunity to continue upholding the Antarctic spirit of "unity, diligence, exploration, and innovation," accelerate industrial scale-up, achieve high-quality development, and make positive contributions to protecting the global marine ecological environment.

During the certificate presentation, General Manager Ni Jianfeng and Øyvind Pettersen, Global Vice President and General Manager of DNV GL China Technical Center, took a friendly photo together. Ni Jianfeng expressed that the trust and friendship generated between Antarctic Machinery and DNV GL during the testing and certification process set a good example of success, and he looked forward to more and deeper cooperation with DNV GL.

Subsequently, Jin Xing, senior engineer of the Antarctic Machinery Ni's Ballast Water Management System (NiBallastTMBWMS), introduced the process and performance advantages of the Ni's Ballast Water Management System to the attending leaders and experts, earning unanimous recognition and praise.

The Ni's Ballast Water Management System uses a purely physical treatment process of mechanical filtration + membrane separation + nitrogen-driven oxygen removal. It has complete independent intellectual property rights, has overcome 5 key technologies, and has obtained 11 national invention and utility model patents. It won the gold award in the marine engineering equipment and high-tech shipbuilding field at the first China Military-Civil Dual-Use Technology Innovation and Application Competition, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence. It meets the requirements of the IMO International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments and USCG 46 CFR 160.060. It has the characteristics of no restrictions on ballast water salinity and temperature, direct discharge, low power consumption, nitrogen-filled anti-corrosion, and less sediment, making it popular with customers. It has been applied to 400,000-ton, 310,000-ton, 210,000-ton, and 180,000-ton ore carriers; 300,000-ton oil tankers; various types of bulk carriers, chemical tankers, container ships, semi-submersible vessels, heavy-lift vessels, ocean-going fishing vessels, and government vessels.

To better meet the needs of global navigation, Antarctic Machinery signed a contract with DNV GL on June 25, 2019, for USCG type approval of the Ni's Ballast Water Management System (NiBallastTM BWMS). With the supervision and assistance of DNV GL, it successfully completed document review, functional testing, land-based testing, shipboard testing, environmental testing, preparation of the final application report, and USCG review. After 2 years and 3 months, it obtained the USCG Type Approval Certificate on September 10, 2021, giving the company a strong competitive advantage in market development.

The Antarctic Machinery R&D team conducted extensive and meticulous preparatory work, including repeated demonstrations and experiments, for obtaining certificates from various classification societies, especially the USCG Type Approval Certificate. This included various tests in the East China Sea, Yellow Sea, and Yangtze River waters, 20T small-scale tests, 200T land-based tests, 200T and 800T shipboard tests, and 1500-hour durability tests on the membrane separation unit, as well as other individual tests. During the USCG type approval certification process, it passed extremely rigorous functional tests, including successful continuous land-based tests under various salinity and temperature conditions, successful continuous shipboard tests of more than 6 months, and electrical equipment environmental reliability tests according to USCG requirements. This fully demonstrated the reliable performance of the Ni's Ballast Water Management System. For the successful acquisition of the USCG Type Approval Certificate, the company team demonstrated a spirit of hard work, strictly following relevant requirements and standards, overcoming various difficulties, and making great efforts to ensure the timely completion of the tests and successful certification. The innovative, striving, and progressive spirit of the Antarctic people was once again fully demonstrated.
